Grove City to Welcome Two New Restaurants: Shakers & Dapper Dog
Locale: UNITED STATES

GROVE CITY, OH - March 31, 2026 - Grove City is poised to welcome two distinct dining experiences this spring with the upcoming openings of Shakers Public House and Dapper Dog Tavern. Located side-by-side on Stringshotow Road, the establishments, owned by Brian and Laura Swick, represent a strategic effort to broaden the culinary landscape of the growing community and revitalize a previously underutilized commercial corridor.
Scheduled to open in April, Shakers Public House will occupy 2394 Stringshotow Road. Following closely behind in May, Dapper Dog Tavern will open its doors at 2396 Stringshotow Road. While geographically close, the two restaurants are designed to appeal to different customer bases, demonstrating the Swicks' ambition to offer diverse dining options to Grove City residents.
"We really looked at the market and saw a need for more variety," explained Brian Swick. "Grove City is a fantastic community, and we want to contribute by providing dining experiences that cater to a wider range of tastes and preferences."
Shakers Public House will lean into the 'elevated bar food' concept, moving beyond typical pub fare. The planned menu, as detailed in a recent press release, promises a sophisticated take on classic comfort food. Expect gourmet burgers crafted with quality ingredients, a selection of creative and shareable appetizers, fresh salads, and tempting desserts. The atmosphere will be designed to be relaxed and inviting, perfect for a casual night out with friends or family.
"We're not trying to be fine dining," clarified Laura Swick. "Shakers is about offering really good food in a comfortable, unpretentious environment. It's a place where you can enjoy a great burger and a beer without feeling like you need to dress up."
However, it's Dapper Dog Tavern that's generating particularly strong buzz within the local pet-loving community. Catering specifically to dog owners, the tavern will feature a dedicated, spacious patio area where patrons can dine alongside their canine companions. This focus on pet-friendliness is a unique offering in the area and is expected to draw a loyal following. The menu for Dapper Dog Tavern will focus on a curated selection of beers, handcrafted cocktails, and appealing appetizers designed for sharing - both amongst humans and, potentially, well-behaved furry friends (dedicated dog treats are rumored to be in development!).
"We're huge dog lovers ourselves," said Laura Swick. "We noticed a real gap in the market for a place where people could comfortably bring their dogs and enjoy a meal or drinks. We envision Dapper Dog becoming a community hub for dog owners, a place where they can socialize and bond with their pets."
Beyond the individual concepts, the opening of Shakers and Dapper Dog Tavern is seen as a significant step in the ongoing revitalization of the Stringshotow Road corridor. The area has witnessed a noticeable increase in business activity in recent years, with several new establishments choosing to set up shop. The Swicks' project fills two previously vacant storefronts, breathing new life into a section of the road that had begun to show signs of decline. Local economic development officials are optimistic that this influx of new businesses will continue, further strengthening the local economy and creating job opportunities.
The success of these new ventures will likely depend on several factors, including the quality of the food and service, effective marketing, and the ability to build a strong connection with the local community. However, with their clear vision and dedication to providing unique and appealing dining experiences, Brian and Laura Swick appear well-positioned to make a lasting impact on Grove City's vibrant culinary scene. Residents are eagerly anticipating the opening of both establishments, hoping they will become cherished destinations for years to come.
